March Sewing Plans

There are a few things I have in mind for the incoming month. I’ve definitely transitioned into Spring (hopefully not too prematurely as we often end up having snow in March and/or April). Here’s hoping this season’s makes get to see some sociable occasions.

Colette Patterns, Moneta Dress

I’ve already cut this one out but it’ll be a couple of days before I can sew it up as I am still waiting for transparent elastic to arrive in the post.

I’ll be using this lovely cotton jersey from Jenny Stitches Fabric; admittedly, the pattern matching came down to a compromise. I’ve stuck with matching the stripes as to align the florals was just proving impossible because of the directionals.

I’m making Version 3 (with the 3/4 length sleeves) since we’re still transitioning from winter to spring.

Gertie’s / Charm Patterns’ Picnic Skirt and Top

I don’t really do separates – I hate the way they cut my body. I don’t find them even remotely flattering. I’m hoping that, if I make this set in matching fabric – a gorgeous navy and red rose cotton lawn) it might change my feelings about this. I’m living in hope because I know Gertie has never failed me. The Picnic Top is exclusively available on Gertie’s Patreon but the Picnic Skirt is available as a full tutorial on YouTube. I’m going to spend time toiling this one to make sure I get the fit of the top perfect.

Violette Field Threads Ashton Dress

This is a really simple pattern that has been doing the rounds on Facebook over the last few weeks since released. I love the simplicity of it as well as the floating, billowy sleeves. It has a top and a dress version; obviously, I’ll be making the dress. I have a couple of viscose fabrics which may get used for this; I also have a couple more cottons lawns which would be perfect for this pattern.

Jennifer Lauren Handmade Asteria Dress

I’ve been meaning to make this for months so I’m going to use this pattern for an upcoming Sew Anonymous Sewist project!

That’s pretty much as I have planned at the moment as I like to have a good balance between planning and going with the flow – but I know Gertie is releasing the cinch it dress and there will be a new Patreon project, both of which will undoubtedly want to make it on the cutting table.
